First Time Backyard Growers.... you may be noticing some changes happening to your plants. The white hairs (stigmas) are starting to appear, and as the flowering increases this month, the vertical growth of your plants will decrease. In a week or two your plants will be in full flower, and their vertical growth will come to a compete stop. The flowering will increase and put weight on your colas all the way into October. If you haven't supported the branches, do it now because they can break from wind, rain, or their own weight as they flower. Check your plants very closely from here on out. Look for caterpillar damage, russet and broad mite damage, and anything else that looks suspicious. Good Luck!
This sun grown flower at the @BlackCrowGrow farm is just about ready for harvest. Even though this crop finished its flowering cycle in one of the hottest months ever recorded, the antocyanin production was not slowed down a bit by the daily 90+ degree sunshine. HOT HOT SUMMER! Today is the 25th day over 90 degrees in Portland. With a string of 90+ degree days forecast for next week, we may break the record of 29 days over 90 degrees that was set in 2015. These ladies in the photo are enjoying the sunshine at the @BlackCrowGrow farm in Woodburn, Oregon that is located just 30 miles south of Portland. #OregonBreedersGroup #OBG #BlackCrowGrow #MadeInOregon #OregonGrown
Anthocyanins in the 90 degree Oregon sunshine. Anthocyanins are a type of flavonoid, a class of compounds that may have numerous medical benefits. Researchers are busy studying the benefits of the anthocyanins produced by the cannabis plant. #OregonBreedersGroup #OBG #BlackCrowGrow #MadeInOregon #OregonGrown
Breeding can be very rewarding at times, and very disappointing at times. It's a great feeling when things go right. As promised, we will be releasing numerous new strains of flower this fall. Have a Great Weekend, and don't forget to spend quality time with your backyard plants! #OregonBreedersGroup #OBG #BlackCrowGrow #MadeInOregon #OregonGrown
FIRST TIME BACKYARD GROWERS -"What to expect in August in the Pacific Northwest". Everything starts to change in August. Most strains will begin to show white hairs "Stigmas" in the beginning of August, and they will be full of white hairs in just a few short weeks. The nutrients you feed your plants in August will need to transition from nutrients designed for vegetation into nutrients that are designed for flowering. The rapid vertical veg growth you experienced in June and July will start to slow in August, and come to a stop around August 21st. As the end of August approaches your plants will be in full flower. Enjoy watching your plants transition in the month of August, it's an awesome sight! We'll talk about September in about a month. Take Care. #OregonBreedersGroup #OBG #BlackCrowGrow #MadeInOregon #OregonGrown
The Heat Wave Is Over! Portland recorded the hottest July on record. 15 days over 90 degrees, and an average temperature of 87.5. There were plenty of days above 95 degrees during the month, and the outdoor plants loved every minute of it. Southern and Eastern Oregon were hotter than the Portland area, but they're used to it. Indoor growers will be receiving some very large utility bills for July. The August forecast for the first week or two in Portland is mid-80s, and that's just fine. The flower in the picture is sunbathing at the @BlackCrowGrow in the 97 degree heat of July 28th, 2018. There's lots of summer left, enjoy! #OregonBreedersGroup #OBG #BlackCrowGrow #MadeInOregon #OregonGrown
Thanks again to @haute_pdx & @workdubs for helping out at the farm this weekend. These two ladies are welcome at the @BlackCrowGrow farm anytime! They can do it all! They're not afraid of hard work, and they are both experts on cannabis flower, extracts, edibles, etc... They've been around the cannabis industry for years and it shows. The Oregon Breeders Group is proud to have these two part of our family. Now does anybody have a lighter? #OregonBreedersGroup #OBG #BlackCrowGrow #MadeInOregon #OregonGrown
