Or comment below... 📚 This is the selection on my coffee table: • "Eat Drink Nap" - all about the guiding principles/ethos of the Soho House brand, and how to incorporate those in your home. • "East London Food" - ('the people, the places, the recipes') Yum!! • "The Missing Ingredient" by @jlinford - her latest book about 'culinary time' which I have just received & I'm excited to delve in to! ⏳🍽 • "The Old Ways" by @robgmacfarlane which I am enjoying taking my time with; I find myself reading a section whenever I feel the need to escape, take an imaginative journey, or experience a moment of calm. • "The Secret of the Sahara" by Rosita Forbes (a generous gift from @danielbeaumont363 and now officially my oldest Penguin as it's from 1937!) • A programme of upcoming musical events for The Widow's Son pub in Bow, East London. A Victorian pub with lots of history and traditions. • "Chap" a sartorial periodical (@antipodean_grey_wolf it looks like your cup of tea! 👞) • "Vanity Fair" (@bell_from_bow did you pop this through the letterbox?! Thank you!) • "Homes & Gardens" and "Condé Nast Traveller" magazines 📚 Quite a mixed bag! I'm not sure what it says about me? Lakerda to bring the taste of Istanbul on Urban Feast’s tables. These cured Bosporus bonitos were served to my previous supper club guests. @aylak_lakerda made it as a gift, I plated it with red onion, lemon zest, delicious Cretan olive oil. I have been running my Istanbul food project since 2015 - which kicked off its journey with a storytelling content at dis/placed exhibition by @counterpointsarts @shoreditchth - to salute minority communities’ food contribution to Turkey’s diverse culinary culture. 🍴BRAT🍴 Whole charcoal roasted turbot, so meaty, so gelatinous, so ridiculously good. This, along with some sweet tomato salad was the denouement to a wonderful lunch @tomos_pp’s new @bratrestaurant. Also pictured; stunning young leeks with fresh stracciatella cheese; wild rabbit and boudin noir with coco beans and salsa verde and the most revelatory spider crab, charred cabbage and bottarga. I love how seemingly simple Tomos’ food is - he is not afraid to keep things minimal, and this only works because of the incredible quality of the produce he’s working with. Love that there is so much live fire cooking over coals and the room is beautiful, wood panelled and has very special light. To think it was once a grimy strip club! This would certainly be a contender for @eastlondonfood if I was writing it again now. So happy to welcome this newbie to the neighbourhood! #eastlondonfood #londonrestaurants #eastlondonrestaurants
