The how. Sort of. . . . 3.5 years into my journey and I forget that many of my “see them every day” friends and social media followers never knew “big Abby.” As a result, many folks have the immediate reaction of “but how?” My honest answer… it all began with one thing. Not exercise. Not diet. Not a how moment. But a when. Or just simply BEING READY. Said another way, YOU have to be ready. 100% committed. The journey isn’t easy and it’s never temporary. It helps being tired of being fat and tired, but for it to last… the desire for change has to be rooted from deep within you. . . . I knew my life needed change for many years prior to October 6, 2014. How do I know the specific date? Because it was the moment everything changed. . . . A month prior, I had told myself my relocation to California would be the change I needed to break the bad habits. My 30th birthday was looming, so I decided I’d find a personal trainer, eat healthy, limit the wine. You know, lose the weight. And I was doing all of those things. Sort of. It wasn’t until my 2nd trip to Las Vegas in 30 days followed by a visit to the trainer that EVERYTHING changed. . . . That Monday (Oct 6th to be exact), @pangsanity.personaltraining so kindly told me we would doing check in measurements. Well, not only was it “that time of the month” but I had literally just driven in from Vegas. 😡 I of course objected, but seeing as we were 30 days into personal training, he insisted. You probably know how this goes, but I had GAINED weight! Shocker… I was going to training sessions, but then ditching my cardio for Thirsty Thursday. I was shoving Taco Hell in my mouth at 2 am and sleeping through my Sundays. My “healthy lunch” was served with a side of office donuts. That day, those +2 lbs and tipping the scale over 200, I left the gym in tears THAT was it.
